Are you suspecting infidelity in your marriage? In a lot of cases, people do have a hard time deciding if their spouse is indeed having an affair. However, as an affair progresses, signs of cheating will naturally emerge because infidelity usually results in behavioral changes. The following are common signs of cheating to indicate that an affair is indeed taking place.
1) Your spouse takes up a new activity or hobby. This is a major sign, especially if the hobby chosen is something that your spouse never had any interest in doing before. For instance, your spouse now goes to the gym regularly but you never had a problem with his weight before and he has never indicated he needed the work out. It is the sudden interest that should raise your suspicion whether the new hobby is exercise or any other new activity. This could be a sign that he is trying to impress someone else or doing things together with another.
2) Absence of meaningful talks. Couples often talk to each other about their day. If those conversations are now gone and replaced by much silence, it could mean that there is a major problem in your marriage. A cheating spouse often likes to put a barrier between himself and his spouse because the distance alleviates the guilt apart from the fact that he is now getting his emotional needs fulfilled by someone else.
3) A feeling of difference during sex. If your spouse has a desire to try new things in bed all of a sudden or you can instinctively feel a change during intercourse, it may well be one of the signs of cheating. It is not uncommon to start to wonder where your spouse learned those sexual acts from or the cause of the subtle change in passion.
Your spouse may also want less sex when he is cheating. A change in sex life is also a very common signal that infidelity is taking place. This is because of guilt or the cheater may already be getting his sexual needs met elsewhere.
4) A cheating spouse also tends to get angry easier and more often. He may also be touchy around you. This may lead to more arguments and disagreements in your relationship. Things you do may also annoy your spouse for no apparent reason that he takes the opportunity to leave the house as an excuse to be with someone else. Alternatively, the mood swings may come about because an affair does take its toll on a person emotionally.
5) A cheater may also make it a point to reinvent himself by changing his wardrobe. This usually happens through a change in dressing style and appearance, a new emphasis on personal grooming and wearing of perfume or cologne.
6) Sudden unusual behavior when your spouse is on the phone is another sign of cheating. When he is talking on the phone near you, does he try to lower his voice or even leave the room? Hanging up the phone quickly when he sees you coming is another signal to watch out for. Be cautious of increased cell phone use too, as many cheaters prefer to use their own personal phones, as opposed to family phones.
7) In addition to examining the behavior of your spouse, the behavior of your friends should also be carefully observed. The friends you share with your spouse may start acting differently towards you. This is often because your shared friends might know more than you do. Even if friends do not tell you outright that your spouse is cheating, they may, intentionally or unintentionally, show you the signs.
The above signs of cheating may point to an affair, but there can also be reasonable explanations to their presence. The behavioral changes alone cannot guarantee that cheating is taking place. Therefore, additional investigations are warranted and these include checking cell phone statements, monitoring credit card bills or even getting a private investigator. This is because you should not confront your spouse without any proof of the cheating. Bear in mind that without evidence, you will end up creating further problems in your marriage.
