As we make our way through life, we can often accumulate negative emotional baggage. Our subconscious mind will store many of our experiences in order to protect us from future harm. Imagine that from birth, everything that happens to us is written down internally on our Script. This script has no other function other than to keep you alive and to protect you from danger.
Your script will store all your experiences, some good, but mostly all of your bad experiences, every insult you were ever paid, each and every unhappy experience, saving them to use against you in the future. It is easy to underestimate the power of your script, it will rule your life if you let it. Your script is the reason for low self esteem, it is the reason that you hold on tight to every bad experience that you have, rather than concentrate on your triumphs.
Answer one question, how many babies do you know with low self esteem? You accumulate low self esteem by hanging onto negative comments and outcomes.
Would you choose to remember a criticism or a complement? Of course we would choose to remember a compliment, but we dont have a choice in the matter while we let our scripts control us. Our minds hold on to the negative things that have been said about us and it can become fairly depressing.
You are however, not simply the result of your past experiences as some people believe. You can completely separate yourself from your script and all it takes is a simple choice and a small amount of willpower. Freeing yourself from the constraints of your inner script can change your life.
There are hundreds of self-help programs out there for people with low self esteem, however most of them only last for as long as you carry on paying them, and perhaps a short while afterwards. Not letting your script dictate your decisions can be a permanent, life changing thing that allows you to think and feel as you never have before.
