The holiday festivities are almost upon us. If you are not with someone, you may be thinking about finding someone to enjoy your holiday time with. How They Respond to Children – How does your interest act around the excitement of children during the holidays? This often indicates whether the person likes children and is willing to interact with them.
How Do They Interact With Family & Friends?- Will they be pleasant around your family and friends if you take them to a get together? Do they interact? Bring wine or other small gift for the hostess?? You can tell a lot about people by watching them interact. If they seem jealous, that is a red flag, for instance.
Being Reliable – - We all know how much time can be spent preparing for a party, especially for areas like the menu. On top of this there are other considerations: Do you have to purchase special evening wear? Hire a sitter? Can you count on the person who is supposed to go with you to show up and in a timely manner? Do they have good judgement and taste in what they choose to wear? You don’t want a love interest who you cannot depend on.
Abuse of Substances – Having a few holiday drinks aside, but they may be using the holidays as an excuse – I doubt anyone reading this would want to spend their holidays, much less their life, with an addict.
Gift Exchange – You may have only known this person a few months, how would you feel with the gift exchange issue? . Would you have this figured out between the two of you beforehand? Gifting During Hard Times – We are in the middle of a recession currently, and the spirit of the season is not going to make that disappear. Although people want to celebrate the season, spending is probably going to be really curbed this year. Is your date the high maintenance variety, or will they be happy even without the normal holiday spending spree? ? Would they be empathetic to others? Maybe help you volunteer somewhere??
Don’t Be Unrealistic
Don’t lose site of the fact that these ARE the holidays, a time of added stress. Truthfully, many are actually depressed during this season. Your partner could have a lot on their plate. So don’t be depending your love interest to keep you happy and joyful all season.
