The children of America often have a tough time of it. Many are hungry. Many are abused. But in a growing epidemic, more and more of them don’t have a father figure in their lives. It is possibly the very root of all the issues facing our children today.
Deadbead Dads. That’s what we call them nowadays and their numbers have grown at an astronomical rate. They choose not to participate in their children’s lives for months or often years at a time. The saddest part is that there are waiting lists of men who want to be fathers and are unable to.
Because of the lack of a positive male role model, many young boys today grow up without a sense of what it takes to be a man. They just never learned the role. Not only in nurturing, but in basic things like taking care of the household, making sure there’s food, making sure everyone’s safe. It is unfortunate to think that many of these boys will grow up to be just like what they’ve been taught: deadbead dads.
Girls also suffer from not having a father in the house. Because of the lack of a positive, teaching, nurturing male role model, these girls are also likely to have problems with relationships throughout their lives. They are the ones who are likely to become unwed mothers at an early age, often ending up as single parents themselves.
The rampant and growing dilemma of absentee fathers is draining the soul from America’s youth. Even though there are programs set up to help, children still need a father. Just because a man can’t be with the children’s mother, he should still be there for his kids, providing them with the love and strength they crave and deserve.
