Father of the Bride Wedding Speeches – Tips

By Matt Bournston | Dec 4, 2009

If you’re looking for information about how to do father of the bride wedding speeches, then I’m glad you found this article. I will start by briefly mentioning how important it is to plan your article well in advance. I will then tell you the type of things to include in your speech, and finally give you some general tips to remember regarding your speech.

Plan Your Speech In Advance

Ideally, you should start thinking about your speech six months before the date of the wedding. This allows you plenty of time to write down any little ideas you may have. Anything funny or interesting that comes to mind, write it down.

What To Include In Your Wedding Speech

* Say that you think the wedding has gone really well up to this point.

* Thank the guests for coming to the wedding.

* Come up with a brief story about how you have seen your daughter develop into a beautiful woman, and say how proud you are of her and her achievements.

* Say how you first met your daughter’s new husband, and what you first thought of him. Mention how you think their relationship has since developed.

* Say what you now think about your new son-in-law, and how proud you are that he is marrying your daugher. But try to avoid saying how it feels like you haven’t lost a daughter but have gained a son.

Tips For Your Wedding Speech

* Always keep a copy of your speech. The last thing you want to do is lose it.

* Be positive and confident. Your guests want to hear what you have to say.

* Practice saying your speech in front of friends or relatives, so you can get some feedback about it.

* As you are making your speech, make eye contact with people individually.

* Smile.

* Be yourself.

* Don’t worry if you mess up a line or two. Just laugh it off and apologise, then move on.

* At the end, give a toast to the health and happiness of the new husband and wife.

If you are worried about giving your wedding speech, that’s completely understandable. But wedding speeches are really far easier than you may think, if you know what to say and you have prepared in advance. Don’t be like so many people who end up messing up and giving a fool of themselves on the big day. Visit Easy-Wedding-Speeches.info to discover how you can give the best wedding speech ever.
