As we all know, we are in the middle of a huge economic downturn and lots of people are in debt with jobs that are by no means secure, and as a result, many couples are having to plan their weddings with a limited budget.
It has become popular in recent years for a stag night to morph into a stag weekend, or even in some cases into a stag week. Weekends and weeks are often taken abroad, with Amsterdam, Prague and Spain being popular destinations. Since the credit crunch, many people have less disposable income so stag weeks are being cut to weekends and weekends to nights. Everyone is going old school in this respect.
Now, rather than weekends abroad, it is becoming more and more popular to have an activity weekend here in the UK. These activity days or weekends will cost far less than a trip abroad and in many cases, could end up being just as memorable, if not more so.
The big advantage of a stag party in the UK is that you will get a far higher take up rate as many people are put off by the high cost of foreign trips. Because of this you will have a more memorable day than might otherwise be the case. You can surround your self with 15 -20 or more of your friends and family rather than 4-6 for a week trip as is often the case.
A good venue and organiser will be able to organise most of the days activities for you. Generally included activities are things like air rifle shooting, golf, indoor skiing, indoor sky diving, fishing, karting and lots more. Booking the right venue and organiser will take away a lot of the heat from the best man as he will not have to fully arrange an events day of this magnitude, although if he chooses not to tell people then it will look like he has!
Having a wide range of activities is essential as the different people you invite may enjoy a wide range of different sports and events. Choosing off-road driving because it is a favourite hobby of the groom may deter some of the other guests who dont find it enjoyable. You should try to make your stag party activities as broad and inclusive as you can so as to try to include something everyone like at some point in the day.
If you make the day into a competition with some small prizes for winners and losers you will also make the day more memorable and enjoyable.
