I remember disney grad nite like it was ten years ago. It was ten years ago. I have not returned to Disney land since. I have been to the Orlando Disney land because I was there on business and our company gave us tickets and the day off to visit. But that Disney land does not have the Matterhorn so it is not the same.
Do not hear me wrong. Disney land is a great place to celebrate high school graduation. You could tell from my grad night. There were about a thousand other high schools there that night who thought the same thing. The park was as crowded as Times Square at midnight on New Years Eve.
The only ride I went on was the Snow White ride in the kids zone. It was the only ride without a line ten miles long. We were only in the park from ten at night until eight the next morning. I did not want to miss my ride home waiting in line at the Matterhorn.
My idea for grad nite sounded good but did not work out well. You see I wanted to spend it with the girl I had been dating for about two months. We had gone to the same high school for almost four years and had only recently met. We met because as it turned out we were heading to the same college. We met at an orientation function two months before high school graduation.
I am embarrassed to say that not only did it take me four years to meet her, it also took me four years for my first date with a girl. If it was not for her I would have gone dateless through high school. All right I got that out of the way.
And even though what little relationship I had with her was coming to an end by the time grad night was rolling around I thought having a date for grad night would be what made up graduation night memories. Well, I do have the memory that is for sure. We both had friends we also wanted to spend time with during grad night.
So we planned to meet half way into the night after hanging out with our buddies. So my friends and I stood around the hub of the park and watched the masses pass to and fro. I kept looking at my watch. Finally it was time to meet her in frontier land.
We met at tomorrow land and walked around for about awhile wondering when tomorrow would arrive. We stopped for a coke at a crowded fast food place and sat for about ten minutes. We decided it was best that we should try to find our separate friends and end the night separately. I did not see her again until our first week in college. By that time she was dating a college junior. So that was my disney grad nite. I have to tell you, that snow white ride was killer!
