Crest Whitestrips are great teeth whitening products. They all work the same way, and they come in many different forms. The strips contain hydrogen peroxide, which is the very effective bleaching agent found in many teeth whitening products.
Teeth whitening products traditionally contained abrasive materials which were designed to scrub the teeth; the idea was to remove any discoloring particles. The teeth whitening product essentially functioned as sandpaper for the teeth. The teeth were supposed to return to their natural white color, but it was soon discovered that many people did not naturally have white teeth.
Hydrogen peroxide came along to solve this problem. This was a whole new approach to teeth whitening. Instead of scrubbing the teeth, hydrogen peroxide bleached them; instead of removing the discoloring particles, it stained them white. This was found to be much more effective than the traditional whiteners. Now, every teeth whitening product except whitening toothpaste contains hydrogen peroxide.
Whitestrips are made with an adhesive material which is designed to stick to the teeth. It will last for at least the whole thirty minutes of treatment in all the products except the Daily Whitening Multicare and the Daily Whitening Multicare with Tartar Control products, which will last at least the whole five minutes of treatment.
Out of all teeth whitening products, Crest Whitestrips do work exceptionally well. You can buy them either over-the-counter or non-over-the-counter in many different strengths and varieties, each with a hydrogen peroxide content of anywhere from six to fourteen percent.
Despite their great uses, Crest Whitestrips have some problems, too. First, since they lay flat across the teeth, they do not get into the cracks and grooves in between the teeth. This leaves the user with a type of “zebra” effect. Second, the Whitestrips are not made with great adhesive material, so they slide off the teeth very easily. Therefore, users are prohibited from doing much with their mouths (eating, drinking, smoking) if they want the strips to stay on the teeth. Crest came out with a product which stays on the teeth better, called Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal.
Crest Whitestrips are easy to place on the teeth, and their location is easy to control; users can therefore avoid touching the gums which will avoid burning. Despite their flaws, Crest Whitestrips are among the best teeth whitening products available.
