I can easily point you to 30 or more websites that are offering you cheap hotel rates. Have you ever been to one of these sites though and later find out that the rates really aren’t cheaper, or because you booked through them you may not be able to partake in certain ammenities? I will tell you what to look for to actually find cheap hotel rates, not just a hotel advertising through a website with the same or higher rates.
These sites bring hotels a lot of their business. They will always offer to match lower prices if you find them. If the site you are on is not matching prices then they are just listing the rate the hotel has given them for a commission. In this case don’t use a third party, just book with the hotel. Your best bet is to find another website with a price match policy.
You will always have to prepay for a true cheap hotel rate. If you are reading this and don’t want to pay until you arrive, either book the rate the day you are going, or go to the hotel and book direct. There is no way around the prepayment policy, all discounted hotel websites simply require this. If you do not have to prepay for the reservation then you will be booking directly though the hotel in some form or another.
Now to compare rates you have to know what you are looking at. You cannot look at the nightly rate. These are wrong, kind of. See there are various fees that are charged by the hotel. Some times the websites don’t have to charge them, sometimes they absorb them, and sometimes they are just different. Go through the booking process like you are going to complete it and look at the total to compare the prices between sites.
That really is all there is to identifying and comparing websites offering cheap hotel rates. Remember to book early that is the biggest money saver. If the price goes down, you can always request that the website match the price.
