Many people are continually animated by the power of luck in their lives. They find meaning in the various instances and even in little things around them. Even such seemingly insignificant stuff like numbers holds various mythical meanings for some people. People continue to wonder more specifically why the number seven is lucky.
Several things in the world today have the element of the number 7. Here are a couple of the most important and popular ones.
The Seven Wonders of the World – In the ancient world, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria among others were considered to be the greatest treasures on Earth. The modernized world recognizes a different set of wonders, but there are seven of them still.
The seven continents – The hypothetical Pangaea that was considered to be the start of the Earth’s surface broke down into several islands and islets. These are presently grouped into seven continents namely, Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. Although a product of natural forces, this is believed to be something related to the mystical nature of the number 7.
The seven days of the Week – The seven days of the week can be traced to the seven days the Creator spent in making the Earth and everything in it.
The seven colors of the rainbow – Also known for its shorter acronym VIBGYOR, the colors of the rainbow, which in itself is a symbolism of great mystery and a sign of better things, come in seven different hues.
It is believed that the number seven has always been a lucky number. This goes back even in the Greek period. More so, the abovementioned facts support the mystified nature of the number seven. But, as to the very core reason why this number is considered lucky, there seems to be no definite explanation. It is only up to the individual and their beliefs in numbers and whatever they may bring into one’s life.
