How To Get Rid Of Body Hair

By Kate Lewis | Dec 2, 2009

A lot of people some time or the other had to deal with unwanted hair and have struggled with several methods for hair removal. A number of considerations such as the location and density of hair growth, your skin sensitivity and your skin type can determine the hair removal method most appropriate for you.

The most common way of getting rid of unwanted hair is shaving. While shaving is effective and cheap, it isn’t long lasting and you need to do it frequently to maintain hair-free skin. For instance, men shave their facial hair every day. Shaving is also good for ridding areas such as chest or legs of hair.

Another option is waxing hair off the body. However, the process is messy and usually cannot be done without assistance from another person. The benefit of waxing is that the hair is extracted from the root, and it takes twelve to fifteen days to grow back, ensuring freedom from unwanted hair for a longer time. But remember that waxing is a painful method and must not be carried out on sensitive body parts.

The third method is using a hair removal cream, which is simple to apply and can be used without external assistance. While this does not cause pain, the hair reappears faster than in the method of waxing. There is an additional risk of rashes being caused on the skin as a result of the chemicals present in the cream.

Those people who have more hair on some areas of the body than others can opt for hair transplant, in which hair is taken out from the places of denser hair growth and implanted in areas of sparse hair growth. This is a complicated process and should be applied only if there are no other options.

The last method, also the most expensive, is laser hair removal treatment. The most important advantage of this method is that its results are permanent. But for avoiding marks or other accidents, it must only be done by experienced specialists.
