Voice Tonality: The Essence Of Linguistic Persuasion

By Sean Stephenson | Oct 6, 2009

Experts always have said that how we say something is more important than what we say.

The number one secret to saying something powerfully or secretively is to master the tonality of your voice. By mastering the tonality of your voice, you will be able to communicate with people covertly in order to be able to give them messages that it won’t appear like you are intending to give them.

Conventionally speaking, there are two major types of voice tonality: Command tonality and question tonality. The command tonality is demonstrated when you say something with a deeper tone in your voice. The deeper voice tone implies that you are either giving the person instructions or that you are speaking to them as an authority figure.

Question Tonality involves the use of a higher tone of voice that implies you are asking a person a question. Confusion Language is also often integrated with Question Tonality in order to cause the person whom you are persuading to doubt certain conclusions that you don’t want to lead them to. Of course, Question Tonality can also be used as a language softener to “disguise” the blatant suggestions you are making as innocent questions when you are speaking to a person.

Even though these are the main types of voice tonalities that are taught in the persuasion community, there are other powerful variations of voice tonality that you won’t often hear about. One of the most powerful ways that you can use the tone of your voice when you speak to someone is to convey a particular context.

By using your voice tonality to allude to a particular context, you will be able to say anything to anybody without ever getting caught. It is this skill that will make it impossible for you to get blamed for saying the wrong thing to a person, because in all actuality you never really said it (you only implied it through the tonality of your voice). Women speak seductively like this to men all of the time as they imply provocative meaning through the tonality of their voices.

Everybody has on several occasions listened to a woman who was talking about everyday life sort of things that didn’t seem sexual in nature in any way, shape, or form. But not too long after the woman begins to speak, men find themselves getting extremely attracted to the woman they are listening to–even though they may not know what it is that is getting them so worked up. And no one can blame the women when they use this type of covert communication because they aren’t actually saying anything sexual (they are only implying it by skillfully using the tone of their voice).

The key to keep in mind is that even though these women didn’t say anything sexual that every single word they uttered was jammed packed with sexual connotations. Now, although women have been using these advanced communication models for centuries, men have for the last decade or so also begun to use the tonality of their voice to create strong feelings of attraction in the women whom they are speaking to.

The most important feature about using the tonality of your voice is that you will be able to do this in a completely innocent way in everyday conversation. No one will have a clue what you are up to, and even if they suspected something was going on, they wouldn’t know exactly what it was because you were communicating with them covertly.
