Well it seems, that your favorite old guy is about to reach the ripe old age of 40, and your totally lost as to what to get for him. Well then, it would be fortuitous that you’ve arrived. I’ve been were he was a little while ago, and I have a few suggestions.
Now, it doesn’t matter how young they think they are, turning 40 is a big deal for most guys. Few will admit, and even fewer will admit it to themselves. That’s OK. The best you can do, is help to make it a great day with a great gift. While trying to think like a 40 year old guy, is pretty much impossible unless your a 40 year old guy, I should be able to help. While I’m a little past that number, it’s not that long ago, that I can’t remember it.
If your thinking about getting the regular old 40th gag gifts for Mr 39-forever, than you can stop reading now. These gifts I’m writing about are a little more exotic and out there. Not exotic in a nasty way, but in a “Wow, that’s a really cool gift” kind of way. I would have really enjoyed any of these on my 40th.
So, lets start with something basic, and give that old guy something basic. Beer may seem like a simple and rather inappropriate gift, but not if you have a little fun with it. Say disguise it in the form of a gift basket. Perhaps a basket, or mini fridge shaped basket full of different exotic, and premium beers. Other beer associated paraphernalia could also be included.
How about something a little less primal, but somewhat more dare-devilish? Take him to the friendly skies on his 40th day bash with a helicopter ride. Almost everyone’s been in a plane before, but few have enjoyed the exhilaration that a helicopter can.
You can make the flying gift a little more fun, by picking an new location to do it in. Certainly, not all these trips may be available in your backyard, but that just makes it a bit more exciting. It’s a chance to go somewhere else that’s bound to make it even more memorable.
Lots of different places have ways to visit all the attractions that can be as much fun as the location. I remember renting a four wheeling jeep around the island of Aruba one winter. It was fun, just exploring a new place on your own. Scooters around tourist destinations can be fun as well.
Whatever you pick, it’s bound to be memorable, just because it’s a 40th. Adding a unique gift, with a twist or two, just makes it even more so. I can guarantee you he will be thankful for making a big deal of his birthday, even if he wasn’t.
